Welcome in Alsace

Neuf-Brisach, Vauban's Fortress

Neuf-Brisach, a star in the heart of Alsace

Neuf-Brisach lies halfway between Colmar and Freiburg. With its double ramparts it is a must for every tourist. Built from 1698 to 1703 its fortifications served as a counterpart to the powerful fortress in Brisach (Germany) and secured access to Alsace. It is considered to be a perfect fortress and one of Vauban’s masterpieces.
