The Gallo-Roman Museum

An archaeological site museum

You can see more than 1500 objects found in a major site (200 hectares) situated in the Upper Rhine Valley, consisting of an ancient Roman municipal (vicus), a military camp dating from 1st century AD and a palace fortress from 4th century.

The Vauban Museum in Neuf-Brisach

A military history museum

The Vauban museum, founded in 1957, is situated on the ground floor of the Porte de Belfort – City gate of Belfort which was built in 1700. It consists of two rooms. Visitors discover the history of Neuf-Brisach’s architecture and its creation right up to today. The master piece of this museum is a model with sound track of Neuf-Brisach. This is an exact reproduction of the original model which can be seen at the Museum of Relief Plans in Paris..

Schoelcher’s house – Hardt Museum in Fessenheim

On the road to the abolition of slavery ...

Schoelcher’s house offers an opportunity to discover or remember the achievements of Martin Schelcher-Schoelcher (native of Fessenheim) and his son Victor Schoelcher. The latter was a former Under-Secretary of the colonies’ provisional government which voted to abolish slavery on 27th April 1848.
Eclectic humanist, advocate of the abolition of the death penalty, defender of women’s and children’s rights, he rests in peace with his father in the Pantheon in Paris.
